Album:
  1. "Rescue The Dog" (2001) - After a 20 year hiatus, here is over an hour of music from the newly reformed Heartsfield.  All ten tracks on the CD were written by Perry Jordan...eight are entirely new creations, and two are newly recorded versions of classic songs from Heartsfield's self titled debut album ("Music Eyes" and "Just That Wind").  Being familiar with some of the band's earlier work, I was expecting this to be a pretty good CD...but I was not prepared to hear just how good this new band is.  With no slight to the original band, Perry Jordan has pulled together a very cohesive unit that sounds like they're been playing together for years.  Consistently excellent musicianship throughout, beautiful vocal harmonies, and very well crafted songs with thoughtful messages reflecting strong moral conviction from Mr. Jordan.  "Temptation" is a plea for marital fidelity; "Can't You See" is an honest declaration of love and commitment; and "Change My Tune" is a reflection of changing musical values.  Musically, the CD is chock-full of memorable tunes in varying musical styles, from the country-rock of "Temptation" and "Change My Tune", to the Southern-rock of "Just So Hard To Do It" (featuring some nice twin-guitar work) and "See You In My Dreams", to the moody "Forever Has An End" (with that lonesome harp playing from guest musician Corky Siegel from the Siegel-Schwall Blues Band), to the rollicking bluegrass tune "Can't Have It All", to the rockin' bluesy "Roll With The Punches".  And although it is tough to pick favorites from everything here, my favorite tracks on the CD have to be the excellent expanded (8:35) remake of "Just That Wind" and the beautiful "Change My Tune".  Absolutely essential for Heartsfield fans...highly recommended listening for everyone else.  Thanks to Bedrock Records for bringing us this gem.
